For decades, Jackie Jones has fought for women's rights across academia, activism, trade unionism, and politics. As Professor of Feminist Legal Studies, she taught at universities worldwide, writing extensively on violence against women, trans rights, workers' rights, human trafficking, and human dignity.

In the Third sector, she has served as a trustee of SaferWales, former trustee of Welsh Women's Aid, Chair of the Wales Assembly of Women, and President of the European Women Lawyers Association. Within the Labour movement, she has represented Labour on PES Women, Welsh Labour on the UK Labour National Women's Committee, and served as a women's officer at branch and Co-operative Party level.

A proud UNISON and UNITE member, she spent 11 years as a NATFHE/UCU representative, serving on the National Council and as a delegate to the Women's TUC conference, while also negotiating pay equality and job evaluation schemes with management.

Politically, Jackie was deeply engaged in UNISON's 1950s-born women's pension campaign as both academic and MEP for Wales, where she served as Labour's spokesperson on women. She later held the social justice and equalities portfolio as Special Political Advisor in the Welsh Government, and as a Cardiff Councillor, passed the motion making Cardiff the first City for CEDAW in Europe.
