Betty Axtell is member of the National Council of Women GB, a community safety professional andgender justice advocate, deeply committed to safeguarding and empowering women and girls. 

Born, raised, and now working in Slough, one of the UK’s most ethnically diverse towns, she is dedicated to both the VAWG and PREVENT agenda which she says are increasingly overlapping due to the inherently misogynistic and racist development of AI.

She co-authored Slough’s Harmful Practices Strategy and delivers workshops in schools on healthy relationships, harmful gender norms, media literacy, and active bystandership.

With an academic background in politics and international relations, including research on misogyny as a precursor to self-initiated extremist violence, she works closely with the UK Home Office and Counter Terrorism Police to address online radicalisation, the manosphere, and Inceldom. She has also spoken on live radio about gender-based violence and has volunteered at Reading Festival with the police on a consent campaign where she had open conversations with festival goers about the boundaries of consent and UK legislation.
